Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
Endoplasmic reticulum literally means inner cytoplasm membrane network. And that’s exactly what it is. ER contain tubules and sacs with space inside called cisternae. There are two kinds of ER: smooth and rough. Both look very similar except that the rough ER has ribosomes attached to it giving it a “rough” appearance.
