Microbodies
Microbodies are metabolic compartments within the cell found in both plants and animals. Like lysosomes they contain enzymes. The two big ones are Peroxisomes and Glyoxysomes. Peroxisomes are in charge of lipid breakdown and detoxification. Glyoxysomes are essentially specialized peroxisomes in plants that see to the degradation of lipids in germinating seeds to be converted into carbohydrates for nourishment of the seedlings.
